"The question of whether a computer can think is no more interesting
than the question of whether a submarine can swim."
- Dijkstra
I work at minds.ai, a deep learning consultancy with employees all over the world. My job is to prepare the datasets, develop Neural Networks, lead project teams and all the software development required for our customers. My specialization is Natural Language Processing and I have worked on various projects involving text search and classification.
At minds.ai we develop a lot of code related to TensorFlow, from which we collect the most useful parts in a toolset called TF++.
I am the architect and lead developer of this toolset, which includes an extensive suite of visualization and plotting tools, data processing code, network development and training tools, multi GPU support, and an easy to use hyperparameter optimizer that combines the HyperBand algorithm with Bayesian optimizers from scikit-learn.

Since my PhD is on computational astrophysics, I spend a large part of my time programming, mostly in python within the AMUSE environment. This has allowed me to really develop my programming skills and learn from other very talented people. Most of my work as a teaching assistant has also included teaching the students more about programming.
Before my PhD, I worked as a Java developer for 2 years at AtoS on various projects. My time there has taught me a lot about programming, which has really given me an edge in the rest of my career and has set me apart from most scientists.
