PhD candidate

There are several good potential candidates in UvA and UU. At the time of writing we do not have a specific candidate in mind, although the profile is clear. The candidate should have a strong background in astrophysics and expertise in computational science. An MSc in the WINS subject "informatica in de sterrenkunde" (or comparable subjects from other faculties or universities) would be preferred. Alternatively, the candidate could be from computer science with additional strong expertise in (astro)physics. In this case an MSc in the WINS subject "wetenschappelijk rekenen" (or comparable subjects from other faculties or universities) would be preferred. Because we can only assign one PhD to this project it is clear that the background of the candidate will somewhat influence the focus of the project. However, by offering the candidate a well balanced education plan and the direct guidance of a Postdoctoral fellow, this influence will be reduced to the absolute minimum, thus guaranteeing the proposed interdisciplinary research as described in chapter 4.
