Research Interests

My main focus is the physics of massive galaxies, which I study using gravitational lensing, both in its strong and weak regime. I am a member of the Euclid, the Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS) and the TDCOSMO collaborations. Currently I am dedicating most of my time to the development of techniques for the exploitation of gravitational lensing data from upcoming surveys, such as Euclid.

Previously I was a member of the Hyper Suprime-Cam collaboration, where I played a primary role in the strong lensing campaign "Survey of Gravitationally-lensed Objects in HSC Imaging" (SuGOHI). Highlights of my research with HSC data include the developemnt of a lens finder, called YattaLens (Sonnenfeld et al. 2018), the discovery of hundreds of new strong lenses (Sonnenfeld et al. 2020) and a statistical study of the stellar initial mass function (IMF) of massive galaxies (Sonnenfeld et al. 2019).
