But SfinxUpdate can also be used to add some non-default functionality, e.g. to try out a new version of some software by modifying your .syscap file.
If a file with the same name already exists, SfinxUpdate will usually rename it with an
.oldsuffix and put the new file in its place. In some cases, however, the new file will be appended to the existing one. This is determined from the special keyword
UserFileMergewhich might appear in a comment in the update file. This is especially useful for .syscap and .envcap databases, and maybe also for .cshrc and .settings files.
