Non-linear control of adaptive optics for exoplanet imaging

Figure by Vikram Radhakrishnan

We are developing real-time algorithms to shaping the stellar PSF in an exoplanet imager to create a dark area at the position of an exoplanet. This direct, non-linear minimization of stellar light at the exoplanet’s position significantly enhances the achievable contrast of exoplanet imagers.
