Historian of Science

Abel Streefland studied physics at Utrecht University and subsequently did the master History and Philosophy of Science, also at Utrecht University.

Since December 2011 he writes his PhD thesis at the Leiden Observatory under supervision of Frans van Lunteren en Dirk van Delft. His research topic is Jaap Kistemaker and Dutch uranium enrichment since 1945. See the ‘Kistemaker’ tab.

In the fall of 2015 he started working on a short biography of Hendrik Antoon Lorentz’ Haarlem years, 1909-1928. The research was commissioned by Teylers Museum for the reopening of Lorentz’ old laboratory.
