Initial conditions

Below you can find some preliminary initial data sets for simulating M67. Each of the models consists of 40,000 stars (after Hurley, et al. 2001), arranged as a King model with W0= 7. Three King radii (1.0, 2.5 pc, and Roche-lobe filling) are considered. For each radius, six separate binarity fractions (0, 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100%) are provided.

For the 1- and 2.5-parsec radii models, the tidal radius is set at 17 parsecs (derived from a Galactic orbital speed of 350 km s-1, and a Galactocentric radius of 8.5 kpc; q.v. Hurley, et al. 2001)

At the moment, we offer these initial data sets in both Starlab and NEMO formats.

A word about nomenclature: each run, and therefore each initial data file, is uniquely identified by five parameters. N40k refers to the initial number of cluster particles, fourty thousand in this case. W7 indicates a King model with the parameter W0= 7, with a King radius of X.X parsecs, given by the RXXpc term. The TF3 field refers to the internal ... Bfxxx gives the binarity fraction as a percentile; i.e., Bf050 refers to 50% binarity.
