This is a very dangerous action, but sometimes it is your last resort to remove a window that doesn't obey other commands any more. This is not the default way to exit from any application !!!!!!!. This sends a "kill" signal to the application running in the window, such that the application cannot ignore it, and doesn't have time to shut itself down in a proper way. Data are not saved, and sometimes this leaves other processes in great confusion....
The best way to end an application is the built in command, either by typing "exit" or "logout" or so, or by pressing an "Exit" button, or selecting such an entry from the application's menus.
If that isn't possible, try the "Close" function from the Window Menu. This asks the application to shut itself down. Some applications choose to ignore this, others offer the user to save their data and then exit gracefully.
Unfocus Keyboard
Sometimes, an application gets hold of the keyboard and refuses to release it.
This function can often solve this problem.
Window Manipulation
This offers a submenu with choises to move, resize, raise, lower, iconify or
refresh a window. Once a choice is made, the mouse pointer will change shape
and you should select a window on which the operation will take place.
This menu is only retained for compatibility reasons; the Window Menu is in most cases a better startingpoint.
Hide/Show Icon Manager
This shows (or hides) the Icon manager.
Deiconify Client
This pops up the built-in TWM menu containing the names of all windows.
Selecting a window from this menu deiconifies this window.
Refresh Screen
This command refreshes the whole screen.
Hardcopy of window
After this command has been selected, the cursor will change shape and you
can select a window, which will then be printed on the default printer.
Set Background
This menu gives a list of colors for the root
window.
Reread twmrc
This causes TWM to reread the configuration file. Choose this option
after you have made changes to the configuration.
Reread Xresources
This rereads the X resources for use by subsequently started applications.
Note that this does not alter the behaviour of applications that have already
been started !!
Show TWM version
This shows the version of TWM that is running.
Logout
This menu option pops up a small menu with one entry marked Exit from
X windows. Only when you select that entry will you be logged off;
if you release the mouse when the pointer is anywhere else on the screen
the Exit choice will be cancelled.
