PhD candidate at Leiden University

I work on the formation and evolution of galaxies in the early universe, with a particular focus on observations with ALMA and JWST. We have recently detected oxygen in the most distant know galaxy (Schouws+24) and put deep constraints on the emission of carbon from this galaxy (Schouws+25).

I'm also involved with the REBELS Large Programme and its pilots (Bouwens+22, Schouws+22, Schouws+24) and I am leading a ~50 hour JWST programme to follow-up the REBELS sample with NIRCam imaging and wide field slitless spectroscopy (GO 6480).
