Construction of the bottom flange. The flange is made of stainless steel and holes must be drilled for a liquid nitrogen feedthrough (to cool the experiment prior to the flight), an electrical feedthrough (for operation of the motor), two high voltage feedthroughs (for the heaters), a motor feedthrough and a spare vacuum pump feedthrough.

The image above shows the bottom flange construction in action.

The movie above shows the work currently being completed at the Fijn Mechanishche Dienst (FMD) in Leiden.

Here the experiment is shown upside-down. The feedthroughs extend upwards with the liquid nitrogen feedthrough as the tallest.

The coil surrounding the copper block is connected to the liquid nitrogen feedthrough so that liquid goes in on one end, cools the block, and exits in a gaseous phase by the other end.
