I am a PhD student at the Leiden observatory working on galaxy formation and evolution. My main research interests are star formation in disk galaxies and understanding the interplay between the intragalactic medium (ICM) and the most massive galaxies and their supermassive black holes.
To understand galaxy formation I use (cosmological) hydrodynamical simulations. I use idealised simulations to understand in detail how certain processes in galaxies take place. I am also involved in the development of new cosmological hydrodynamical simulations, especially COLIBRE. COLIBRE is a next-generation cosmological simulation that includes a cold gas phase and additonal physics.
My recent work on the interplay between AGN feedback and precipitation of the intracluster medium in simulations of galaxy groups and clusters can be found here.
