]In 2015 this telescope showed up during a cleanup of the directors office, it was an antique telescope that was once gifted to the director (we are not sure if it was Huub or not.) and forgotten over the years.
On the telescope one can find the inscription “Julius Huf, Amsterdam, No. 58” which is believed to be referring to a shopkeeper 1) in Amsterdam who sold formal outfits and military uniforms. This telescope would be part of a sailors outfit and probably dates from round the late 18th or early 19th century.
This telescope is a prime example of a naval telescope and still works very well. It currently can be found in the Oortroom on the 5th floor of the Oortbuilding. The stand was made by the FMD by design of Dominique.
