Sorted lists of ACS, NIC3 & WFPC-2 exposures

This page gives access to files which are sorted versions of the Archived HST Exposure catalogue> provided by . MAST. The process of sorting is described on the main page, this page is only intended to explain the format.

Each file is sorted on the total exposure time awarded to that combination of proposal ID, filter and instrument confirmation. The files all have the same format which can be illustrated by the following excerpt of the ACS list:

TargetName RA (J2000) Dec Instrument Filter TotExp MaxExp ProgID AreaSpanned
                    ANY 00:20:04.76 -30:43:08.4 ACS/WFC F775W 1797576 -1 9984 2.1322e+08

The TargetName columns just gives one of the target names given to a particular exposure. This is rarely useful, but can occasionally be of interest. The Ra & Dec entries should be obvious as are the Instrument and Filter columns. Note that occasionally the latter contains the filter also in the second filter-wheel. The TotExp is the total exposure time assigned to that particular combination of instrument, program ID and filter - for pointed observations like the UDF it is a good estimator of the total exposure time and for parallell observations it is absolutely useless. The MaxExp column is a lot better - this tracks the maximum integration time in a given position by calculating approximate exposure maps using the technique outlined on the main page. Note that this is set to -1 when the exposures span too large an area or if the total exposure time for the proposal is less than 30,000s. The ProgID column gives the program ID and the final column gives the area spanned by the different exposures in this collection. For parallell observations this will often be a very large value and do not use it for anything useful, it is there because I use it for checking the results.

Without any further ado, here is the list:
