The Orion Bar

The Orion Bar is the interaction zone between the H II region surrounding the Trapezium stars in the Orion Nebula and the dark molecular cloud behind it.

We have observed this source in various molecular transitions at millimeter wavelengths. Here 's a picture of a map in the H2CO 2(12)-1(11) transition, observed at the NRAO 12 m telescope at Kitt Peak. Here 's another map : HCO+ 3-2, observed at the JCMT on Mauna Kea, Hawaii.

This is work I do together with Ewine F. van Dishoeck (my thesis supervisor), and Michiel Hogerheijde in Leiden.
