Beware of pick pockets

Last year there were 15,266 cases of pick pockets reported at the police in Amsterdam. Organized pick pockets are particularly active at Schiphol Airport, the red light district and near Amsterdam central station. However, it is quite easy to prevent being victimized. By plane:

Nearest airport: Shiphol

By train:

Take the train from Amsterdam CS in the direction Utrecht , get out at Amstel Station. From Amstel station, take bus 67 to "Wetenschappelijk Centrum Watergraafsmeer" (WCW).

By car:

All highways in the direction of Amsterdam end on the by-pass around Amsterdam(A10). When traveling from the direction Amersfoort, one takes the ring way in the direction Utrecht/Den Haag. Coming from the direction Utrecht/Den Haag/Schiphol/Leiden or Zaandam one takes the round way in the direction Amersfoort. Traveling on the A10, one takes the exit Watergraafsmeer/S113. At the end of this exit one follows the direction Watergraafsmeer. At the first traffic lights, turn right. This is the Kruislaan. After 1 km one sees the WCW/Amsterdam Science park on the left.
