I obtained my PhD from Leiden University on 7 September 2016, under the supervision of Dr. Henk Hoekstra. Before that, I obtained both my MSc (2012) and BSc (2010) from Universidad Católica in Chile.

I am interested on a variety of aspects of galaxy clusters and their cosmological interpretation. Topics I am particularly interested in include:

  • Calibration of the SZ effect for cluster cosmology
  • The physics of merging clusters
  • Cluster galaxies and their dark matter halos
  • On the left are two galaxy clusters that I've become interested in:

  • PLCK G004.5-19.5, discovered by the Planck satellite and confirmed by us using optical images and spectroscopy from the Gemini South telescope1; and
  • ACT-CL J0102-4915 "El Gordo," a massive merging system at a redshift of 0.87 discovered by the Atacama Cosmology Telescope2.
  • My PhD thesis can be downloaded here.
