Lecture outline

This lecture will conclude the course and look forwards to the recent and future development of astronomical data management both in the sense of technology and data sets. Tasks and methods described during the course will be reviewed in the light of upcoming astronomical data (VIKING, KIDS etc., see ESO Surveys).

This lecture will include an introduction to Grid computing and EGEE project for development of European scientific Grid.

Werkcollege

Werkcollege will be supervised by Zheng Meyer-Zhao (CIT, RuG).

Practical work with present-day Grid facilities (EGEE-III http://www.eu-egee.org/) is a topic of this werkcollege.

To complete this werkcollege use following exercises: Tu_IAC2010_Lec8.tgz.

For exersises JS-7 and DM-5 you will need a reduced image (RegriddedFrame) like this one: test_image.fits. Please, use an image you reduced during Werkcollege 5, retrieve it from Astro-WISE with the use of dbview.astro-wise.org, project STUDENTWISE, reduced science, RegriddedFrame.
