Deep field

FIRES (Faint Extragalactic InfraRed Survey) is a very deep near-infrared imaging survey carried out at the ESO Very Large Telescope. More details about FIRES and related publications can be found on the FIRES Web site. A selection can be accessed via the links below.

MPE 3D Stellar Library

Spectrum

This atlas of stellar spectra was obtained with the 3D instrument, the first near-infrared integral field spectrometer built by the Infrared Group at the Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik (MPE) in Garching, Germany.
The spectra can be downloaded from this site or obtained via anonymous FTP; see below and the ReadMe files for details on the retrieval procedure and the format of the data files.
In using the 3D library in your work, please make reference to the original publication(s).

The compilation of the MPE 3D library is in progress -- the following data sets are currently available:

Dot K-band atlas of cool evolved stars
  • including 31 near-solar abundance stars of types G, K, and M with luminosity classes III and I, and 2 carbon stars
  • R ~ 830 or 2000
