Star and Planet Formation

Welcome to the webpage of the “Star and Planet Formation” graduate course!

This course consists of a lecture series given by Professor Dr. Ewine F. van Dishoeck (ewine@strw.leidenuniv.nl) at the Leiden Observatory in the Spring of 2018. In the lecture series the various stages in the formation of stars, from collapse of an interstellar cloud to the formation of a planetary system will be discussed. There will also be at least two exercise sessions under the guidance of the teaching assistant Arthur Bosman.

Here you can find all necessary information about the course. Recommended and further literature, as well as interesting links related to the course will be maintained and updated regularly. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding these pages, please send an email to bosman@strw.leidenuniv.nl. The teaching assistant is also available if you have questions about the course, his office is HL503.

The current Spring 2018 webpage for the course was set up in connection with the previous rounds of lectures (2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016). It is largely based on the 2009 webpage by Isa Oliveira and the 2011 webpage by Daniel Harsono.

These pages will updated throughout the course, so the students are expected to stop by regularly.
